Munmun Dutta Casteist Remark Controversy: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Cast Made To Sign Undertaking
TMKOC’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi has made the entire cast of the show sign an undertaking that will prohibit them from using any language that hurts religious sentiments.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ootlah Chashmah is one of the most popular and loved shows of Indian television. The popular daily soap recently made headlines after one of its leading actresses Munmun Dutta landed in legal trouble for using a casteist slur in her vlog on YouTube. Although she later apologised for her remark, the makers of the show have now reportedly got an undertaking signed by the entire cast that prohibits them from using any foul language or making casteist/religious remarks.
According to the latest report in Bollywood Hungama, the entire cast of the popular show was taken by surprise when they were made to sign the document. TMKOC’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi asked the actors to sign the document as per which they will not be allowed to make any comment that may hurt any kind of sentiment.
The hard copies of the undertaking were issued to the cast on the set and their signatures were duly taken.
Earlier, while offering her apology, Munmun Dutta had blamed the 'language barrier' for the confusion. She wrote, “This is in reference to a video that I posted yesterday where in one word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent to insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone's feelings.”
She added, “Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down. I have utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our Society or nation.”
