In an interview in August 2024, television actor Mohsin Khan, known for his iconic role as ‘Kartik’ in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, opened up about his health struggles and revealed that he had suffered a mild heart attack in 2023 due to his poor lifestyle. He attributed his health issues to a fatty liver, which he said contributed to the scare. This revelation sparked widespread concern among his fans, particularly when a short clip from the hour-long interview, in which he mentioned the heart attack, went viral. The two-minute segment raised alarms about the actor’s well-being, prompting fans to express their worry.
However, Mohsin Khan has since clarified that the entire situation was a misunderstanding caused by a minor grammatical error during the interview. Taking to Instagram, he shared a post and an interview with ETimes, where he explained the confusion. He revealed that he had not suffered a heart attack, but rather a gastritis attack. Gastritis, which causes pain in the abdomen and chest, can sometimes mimic the symptoms of a heart attack. Mohsin said that during the interview, he had intended to say he "thought" he had a gastritis attack, but mistakenly said "heart attack" instead. This slip of the tongue led to the widespread confusion, as he had not elaborated on the issue at the time due to the conversation quickly shifting to other topics.
Addressing why it took him so long to correct the misunderstanding, Mohsin explained that his shy nature made him hesitant to publicly comment on the matter. He had hoped that the situation would naturally fade away, but after realizing how concerned his fans and close ones were, he felt compelled to set the record straight. Mohsin expressed his regret over the confusion, adding that he wanted to ensure that his well-wishers knew the truth.
In his original August 2024 interview with Pinkvilla, the actor had also discussed his struggles, craft, and personal journey, mentioning how his health issues had escalated to the point where he had to be hospitalized due to his non-alcoholic fatty liver condition. Despite the health scare, Mohsin reassured fans that his condition had improved significantly, although he still experienced bouts of illness due to a weakened immune system and an erratic sleep schedule.
By clearing up the misunderstanding, Mohsin hoped to ease the concerns of his fans and close ones, emphasizing that while his health challenges were real, the reported heart attack was not accurate.
