Indian Idol 12: Karan Johar Supports Shanmukhapriya After Being Mercilessly Trolled For Her Performance
Shanmukhapriya is one of the best and the most criticised contestants of Indian Idol 12. Despite having a huge fan following, there’s a certain section that highly trolls her and demands her elimination. Moreover, when Anjali Gaikwad and Ashish Kulkarni were evicted from the show, netizens called it a biased decision and claimed that the makers wanted to save Shanmukhapriya. Unfazed about the online criticism, Shanmukhapriya gives her best on stage and have impressed many over her run in the show.

However, this time, filmmaker Karan Johar who graced the show as a guest was seen supporting the contestant and shared his experience on trolling. After her performance, Karan told her, “I know that for the past few days, there is the madness going on in your life online. People are trolling you unnecessarily. I want to tell you something, the same thing has been happening to me for many years. Whatever I do, I do with my heart. Be it judging people in TV shows, hosting the show, or wearing the clothes I want to wear. I wear. There is an evil world that has formed an opinion about me.”

“Whenever I woke up in the morning I would see people abusing me online. Those people used to write bad things that hurt my heart. Last year, people trolled me for the whole year itself,” he continued, referring to the time when he was mercilessly criticised on social media after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

Further, Karan tells Shanmukhapriya's mother, “My mother also used to get worried about my trolling. I’m telling you not to be upset with this. You have a rockstar in your house. She is the daughter of India and no one can compete with the daughter of India.”

Earlier, reacting to the criticism, she said, “I tried to take the trolls with a pinch of salt,” adding that even the greatest of the artists in the likes of Michael Jackson had to endure criticism.
