The singing reality show Indian Idol 12 has been hitting headlines for a few days now. The show and its contestants received a lot of flak after the Kishore Kumar Special episode. Apart from this, the show is making a lot of buzz for reasons like love affairs among contestants, controversies, and much. Singer, Abhijeet Sawant, who took home the Indian Idol 1 trophy in 2005 opened up about the controversies, love affairs and more. He also called season 11 of the singing reality TV show ‘fake’ and spoke about the format of the show.

Speaking with Bollywoodlife, Abhijeet Sawant opened up about the ‘extra elements’ that get added to the show. He spoke about how the focus has shifted from the contestants’ performance and singing. The singer said, “Duration of extra elements used to be short at our time. But more relevance is being given to these elements today. They must give challenging work to the contestants. The singer also spoke about the fake love affairs created on the show. He added, "Every such element was fake in season 11, I have no clue about this season". Abhijeet was talking about the wedding angle that was created between show host Aditya Narayan and judge Neha Kakkar. Sawant continued, "We need to balance such creative ideas with singing. We must be famous because of our singing and not because of these stories."
