Harbhajan Singh On Slapping Sreesanth: That Was A Mistake And I Am Sorry
It was in April 2008 during the first edition of the Indian Premier League that cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth made headlines for the wrong reasons. Harbhajan had slapped Sreesanth in a fit of rage and even after 11 years, none can possibly forget that incident. At the time, Harbhajan was playing for Mumbai Indians while Sreesanth was representing the Kings XI Punjab team.

Now, Harbhajan Singh heavily regrets slapping Sreesanth and if given a chance to rectify one thing in life, it would be the slap-gate incident. In an interview to Behindwoods Air, the off-spinner said, “Whatever happened with Sreesanth.. me and him on the field.. lot of people talk about that incident now. If I have to go back and rectify something in my life, I would correct that. I shouldn't have done that. That was a mistake and I am sorry about that. It shouldn't have happened. Sreesanth is a top guy and he had so much of skill. My best wishes to Sreesanth and his wife and to their children. No matter what people say, I am still your brother.”

Some time back, Sreesanth had even spoken up on the incident by saying, “I had crossed the line. Bhajji didn’t like it as he got defeated at his home ground. It was a volcanic eruption. I was angry in the beginning but then I cried because I felt helpless.”

After the slap-gate incident in 2008, Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth won the 2011 World Cup together as teammates. But, Sreesanth’s cricketing career came to an end due to the spot-fixing case. He is currently trying his luck on the small screen by making appearances in various reality shows like Bigg Boss 12 and Khatron ke Khiladi 9.
