Goa Government Cancels Permission For Film And Television Serials Shooting Amid Surge In Coronavirus Cases; Kumkum Bhagya, Kundali Bhagya And Other Shows To Be Affected
Coronavirus cases are increasing day by day. The second wave of coronavirus has hit India badly and the situation everyday is getting worse. Given the rise in covid cases, Maharashtra government announced a curfew in the state and shooting of TV shows, films and ads have come to a halt. And as many are aware, due to that, many TV shows shifted their shooting locations. Few makers of popular TV shows shifted to Goa, however, now they have been asked to wrap up.

On Thursday, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) cancelled all permissions granted for film and television serial shootings in Goa in the wake of raging COVID-19 pandemic. For the uninitiated, ESG is the Goa government's nodal agency which is empowered to give permission for commercial shootings in the state.

ESG's Vice Chairman Subhash Faldesai said, "We will not allow any shooting of films or TV serials in public or private properties. All those currently shooting films and serials in Goa have been asked to wind up their schedules. Adding to that, he said that the state government has enforced strict curbs, including imposition of section 144 or CrPC, which bans assembly of five or more people at one place. ESG will announce its new decision once the Covid-19 situation comes under control.
For the unversed, the shows that shifted to Goa include Kumkum Bhagya, Kundali Bhagya, Yeh Hai Chahatein, Apna Time Bhi Aayega, Qurbaan Hua, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein, Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani and Yeh Hai Chahatein. As per a report in TOI, the hunt for new locations has already begun.
