Gauahar Khan Lashes Out As Her Name Is Not On The Voter’s List; Agitated Actress Says, ‘The Most Basic Deprivation Of Your Rights’- WATCH
Actress Gauahar Khan enjoys a huge fan base on social media. She often takes to her official handles to connect with her followers and express her feelings and views. Just like the rest of the celebrities, on Monday, she also stepped out of her house to cast her vote during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, which were conducted in Mumbai. However, she went through a terrible experience at her polling booth when she found out that her name wasn’t mentioned in the voter’s list despite staying in the same place for years. She lashed out and questioned why the citizens weren’t allowed to vote while carrying their Aadhaar card as proof of identity if their name wasn’t mentioned in the survey.

Taking to her Instagram, the Ishaqzaade actress appealed that voters must be able to cast their vote just because of their Aadhaar cards and ID proofs. Quoted by India.com, she said, “I really have an appeal. Why do we have Aadhaar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhaar card is your identity that you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that. But when you go to voting counters with our Aadhaar cards and ID proofs, they say you cannot vote because your name is not on the list. I'm just making a humble appeal that on the basis of your Aadhaar card, you must be allowed to vote as an Indian citizen.” ALSO READ: Gauahar Khan BLASTS Netizens For Sharing A VIDEO Of Her Tripping On Red Carpet! The 40-year-old actress opened up about her experience and stated that she and many others were denied the right to vote because the survey didn’t have their names. She said, “Why are we being denied our right to vote just because of the survey they've done doesn't have your name? It has names of people who are not even living in the building. Here people are fighting and going berserk because they have their IDs but the survey does not have their names. That is the most basic deprivation of your rights.” In another video that is currently going viral on social media, she is seen storming out of the polling booth in anger after getting to know about the mismanagement.
