And Ali Asgar On Lip Sing Battle
Lip Sing Battle, an Indian adaptation of the eponymous American
reality competition, showcased popular celebrities compete against each other
to perform the best lip sync of famous songs with the help of props and
costumes.
However, in less than two months of run time – it
premiered on September 16 -- the channel (Star Plus) has decided to
pull it off-air.
Sources close to STAR maintain that it was supposed to be
a finite series. However, there are whispers in the TV industry that the reason
for the show being pulled off is that it has not proved to be a big ticket for
the channel.
Also, the music reality competition failed to make it to
the Top 10 ever since it premiered, which is enough proof that it did not
resonate with the audience to the desired extent.
You may recall that during the show’s launch, Farah Khan,
had told the media that the show will comprise 20 episodes. Therefore, this
decision to pull the plug on the show cannot be termed an abrupt one, but
SpotboyE.com has it that the plans of extension have been shelved.
The team shot for the final episode last night featuring
Hrithik Roshan, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon. The episode will air on November
5.
Farah Khan took to Instagram to post a picture with the
guests of the final episode and wrote, “U know its bn an amazing season whn it
ends with @hrithikroshan dancing!”
Replacement for Lip Sing Battle has not been decided yet. The channel, we hear, is now focusing on the upcoming, India’s Next Superstar.
