Diya Aur Baati Hum's Deepika Singh On Facing Favouritism In TV Industry, 'Don't Think People Without Skills And Talents Get A Good Push'
Diya Aur Baati Hum actress Deepika Singh says though favouritism exists in the TV industry, it's impossible to succeed without 'talent'
It won't be wrong to admit that favouritism exists in every field. At times, there are cases when someone less deserving gets the chance over the truly deserving one and we all must have witnessed this happening, at least once or twice in our lives. That being said, the entertainment industry lags no behind and the ongoing debate around nepotism and insiders vs outsiders is enough to prove the same. Amid all this, Diya Aur Baati Hum actress Deepika Singh, in an interview with Pinkvilla, shared her experience on the same. Deepika believes that though recommendations are a thing in the industry, it's eventually those with skills and talents that go ahead.
"I have got both my shows after giving auditions relentlessly. For Diya Aur Baati Hum, I have given auditions for almost a month non-stop, after which I got selected, signed the contract, and started shooting. I had no contacts in the industry whatsoever, so auditions were my way of grabbing a good opportunity. I think everything lies with the channel, producers also play a part as they recommend someone. However, I feel that getting a role is all based on 'talent'. I don't think that people who don't have any skills and talents will get a good push," said the actress.
Upon being asked about facing rejections, Deepika said she had many such experiences after her first show but that didn't let her down at all.
"After Diya Aur Baati Hum also, I have faced rejections several times. I have given ample of auditions and look tests but failed. However, that's just a part of the process. The writers and makers thoroughly know what they want, they have an imagination for the character, and would surely pick someone that fits it perfectly. So until they don't find who fits the role as per their imagination, they will not be satisfied and their hunt will go on," added Deepika.
