Dill Mill Gayye Actor Amit Tandon On His Latest Song Hosho Hawaas: '7.5M Views And Still Counting'- EXCLUSIVE
From being a finalist in Indian Idol to crooning lovely songs and working on the small screen, Amit Tandon has definitely come a long way and carved a successful journey for himself. After giving us tracks like Chartbuster and Meri Ankhiyan in April this year, the singer is back to enthrall us with another original track called Hosho Hawaas.

The song has been composed by Durgesh Rajbhatt and written by Shreyas Puranik. Apart from crooning and releasing this melodious number, Amit Tandon has also launched his own YouTube channel ATM (Amit Tandon Music). Hosho Hawaas is the first song on his platform and that makes it extra special for the talented singer.

So we decided to catch up with the singer-actor and know more about the process behind creating the song and his plans ahead.

How did you conceptualise the song Hosho Hawaas and put everything together?
The whole concept of Hosho Hawaas was pretty much put together by me and my director Sandeep Bath when I was traveling to New Zealand. I give full credit to my music director and composer Durgesh Rajbhatt. When I heard the song for the first time, we wanted to do it. We worked on the music to give it a catchy vibe. A carefree, bindaas guy, walking through the streets of New Zealand while the world is rushing, that's the kind of vibe we wanted to give the song.

Where did you record Hosho Hawaas?
Hosho Hawaas was recorded in Mumbai and Pankaj Bohra was the mixing and mastering engineer. His brother Pranjal was the one who actually did the recording. That was a lot of fun as well.

How much time did it take to record the song?
Surprisingly, this song was done within an hour with maximum two takes. There was just a feel and a vibe of this song that clicked right away. Post our initial practice session, the moment we went into actual recording we pretty much zipped through it. I think any song that a singer usually does as a general practice, if you're exceeding one and a half to two hours recording, you're probably not getting the vibe and beyond that you are also straining your vocal chords

Which was the biggest compliment that you received for Hosho Hawaas?
I have got compliments from so many sections. A lot of my Indian Idol contestants from Rahul Vaidya to Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana to Prajakta Shukre, all of those top contestants send me lots of messages. I would say one of the biggest compliments I have received is from singer Krishna Beura. He was very kicked about the song. He really liked the way I sang it.

What was your wife Ruby’s reaction to the song?

Ruby as always has been very supportive towards me and my music and she has really liked the song Hosho Hawaas. She even liked the video and felt that the synergy between the song and the video was good. Whatever you're shooting visually should match with how it should be sounding and I think the song did that. So she is kicked about it and even about my next song which I'll be shooting in December.

How has the response been to the song?
So far, Hosho Hawaas has hit the 7.5 million mark. and still counting, which is amazing because it’s not easy to do that organically especially with a brand new channel ATM (Amit Tandon Music). Not releasing from any big label, the song has also been streaming well; it was in Top 20 for iTunes for quite some time. This is my first independent project and I’m very happy with it. The song is still gaining on an average of 2 lakh views a day. That's just amazing in today's day and age where people inorganically boost the videos up. So to get this from a genuine audience has been amazing and my response when I sing it live in front of people has been equally good. So now, we will be recording 2 more songs in the coming week and probably shoot it in the first 2 weeks of December.

Are you going to perform this song in your live shows? And where are you off to now?
Yes of course, I usually begin the show playing the track of Hosho Hawaas and then I end up singing it for my finale towards the end. The good thing is that I have a lot of people come to me and say please sing that song. I'm headed to Nashik now, then I have a show in Bangalore and Delhi. So, it's been amazing. Coming back to the live music scene, it has been a great experience and I have really missed it. To have the audience sway to your song is absolutely fantastic. Being on TV for the last few years has also been a good experience. I love acting and I may continue doing it maybe not on TV but definitely something digitally or in films. But I love performing, singing, making my own videos. It's a great feeling.
