Deepika Singh Trolled By Sujata Segal For Her Odissi Dance; Shoots Back, “It Wasn’t A Performance But A Prayer To The Lord”
Kavach 2 actress Deepika Singh was recently trolled for her video on social media in which she was seen performing an Odissi dance. A senior actress Sujata Segal mocked her attempt and told her not to insult the dance form. In the comments section, she wrote, “Stop dancing..your terrible.train for 15 years with the basics of oddissi...then attempt a performance..sad..sad...please.dont disgrace tbis great art form (sic).”

In return Deepika Singh Goyal, in an extremely calm way, replied, “Thankyou for your valuable feedback maam. But i have been practicing and worshiping Odissi dance form from past 5 years and many more years to come. As they rightly say, practice only makes a man perfect. And its clearly mentioned that its a practice video. Hope you have a good day.”

Now, we decided to speak up with Ekta Kapoor's leading lady as to how did she feel by the comment and the actress exclusively told SpotboyE.com, "I have been posting my dance videos since a long time on social media and I haven't come across any such comment until now. But I am very thankful to her that she shared her valuable feedback to my video. She is an experienced actress-dancer and if something comes from a person like her it gives a tichki to your heart to do better. So I am taking it positively".

She also mentioned, "I would also like to clear that the video which I posted that day was shot during my night shoot between 4-5 am. It was not a dance but a prayer (Ganesh Vandana) called Namami which I was offering to the lord. I had not done any rehearsals or was doing any kind of performance. The thought came to my mind when I got little time on the set and I decided to utilize it for doing a Pooja which my stylist Krishna Sneha kesharwani, who is also a friend of mine captured and then I thought why not post it on social media. Also, while performing I wasn't concentrating on techniques but was doing it from my heart and soul".

You may recall, SpotboyE.com informed you that Deepika was chosen as Sandhya for Kavach 2 by Ekta Kapoor as she was impressed by her dance videos. And we thought this was the right moment to hear it from the horse’s mouth so we asked her and she replied, “Ekta has never said this to me directly. But my creatives did tell me that we know you are a professional dancer. In fact, they cast me because of my dance. My character of Sandhya is a professional Bharatnatyam dancer. Considering it’s a daily soap we don’t have time to rehearse and perform but to learn steps on the spot and get it recorded. Hence, their requirement was clearly an actress who is good at Indian classical dance. And I feel lucky that they chose me for it.”

It’s been a few weeks since the show went on air and until now, Deepika has shot for almost six dance acts. Speaking about it, she disclosed, “My introduction scene was shot on Taal's song, then I did a dance performance in Shiv Mandir, then the third was Galla Goodiyan which was a duet with me and Namik. I even did Pinga, Taandav and then a romantic number on Ang Laga De. Well people don't know this, but while doing the Taandav, I was badly injured. Basically, I was running wearing heels and fell down in the garden area of the set after which the production house shifted the shoot for a day considering how I will perform. But we couldn't delay it much due to the telecast issue. So I took injection for pain and shot for it with my injured leg. The expression which you saw on screen was all real as I was in immense pain while performing but dance is something which I love to do so I have no regrets.”
