Co-stars break down while shooting for Ahem’s death scene in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya

There was no usual masti-mazak, no chehel pehel -- the set of TV show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya was engulfed in sorrow yesterday as the death scenes of Ahem (Mohammad Nazim) were being shot.

Ahem’s on-screen family members -- wife Gopi bahu (Devoleena Chatterjee), mother Kokila (Rupal Patel) and daughters Vidya (Sonam Lamba) and Meera (Tanya Sharma) -- broke down for real while filming the scenes.  



Ahem’s death, which will be aired in a few days’ time, is one of the most important turning points in the show. SpotboyE has it that the death with coincide with Meera’s wedding.  

Though Meera’s match is fixed with Sanskaar (Karan Khandelwal), Ahem decides to get her married to the love of her life, Dharam (Amar Upadhyay).



So, on the day of the wedding, he goes to fetch Dharam. But as fate would have it, their car tyre gets punctured half way. While Ahem stays back to get it repaired, he sends Dharam to the venue on a horse.

Dharam reaches on time and marries Meera, but just as everyone gets ready for her bidaai, Ahem's dead body is brought home. In short, soon after the wedding, the Modis get ready for a funeral.



The scenes took a heavy emotional toll on the actors, as it also marks Ahem’s exit from the show. Says Nazim, who has been associated with Saathiya since its beginning, “I got emotional after seeing my co-stars break down. It’s not easy to leave the show, but there’s nothing I can do about it.”



Adds Tanya, “Like my character Meera, I will also miss Nazim very badly. We have all been like a family here.”

The cast and crew later threw a farewell for Nazim.
