Worship Khanna Remembers On-Screen Mother Leena Acharya Who Died Due To Kidney Failure, 'I Used To Call Her Maeri Instead Of Maa'
Meri Hanikarak Biwi TV show actress Leena Acharya passes away. The actress succumbed to death due to kidney failure on Saturday. The sad news of her sudden demise was broken to the world by screenwriter and actor Abhishek Gautam on his social media account. The screenwriter and actor Abhishek breaking the news of her death recalled the time when the now late actress stood by him. He mentioned losing a friend, while he bid her a final good bye. 

He wrote in his Facebook post, “My good friend and a great artiste Leena Acharya, who would always stand up for others, bid goodbye to this world and I lost a good friend. You will always be missed my friend.” Remembering her, late actress' co-star of TV show Seth Ji Worship Khanna said, “The actress was suffering from kidney ailment for past one and half years. Her mother donated her kidney a while back, but she didn’t survive.”

As per reports in ETimes, he said, “In 2015, I had the opportunity to work with Leena ji. She played my mother on-screen in Seth Ji. I was playing the role of Ganesh Rao, a Maharashtrian. I would call her Maeri instead of Maa. We shared a great bond. Being a bachelor staying alone in Mumbai, she would get food for me and say ‘Betu khana kha le’. She was a very fun loving person.”


He further added, “I knew she had health issues in 2015. She was surviving on one kidney and working. She had suffered many health ailments in between and in past four months her health had deteriorated a lot. She was an experienced actor and I will remember her forever.”

She was seen in web series Class Of 2020 and TV shows such as Seth Ji, Aap Ke Aa Jane Se, Meri Hanikarak Biwi and more. She was also seen in the Bollywood movie, Hichki.
