Bitti Business Wali Actors To Approach Police Over Non-Payment By Producer
The star cast of Bitti Business Wali that went off air last year in September haven't been paid their dues yet by producer Raakesh Paswan. The team plans to approach the police
The cast and crew of Bittt Business Wali haven’t been paid their dues yet by producer Raakesh Paswan. The show ended in September last year, but the team still continues waiting for their payments to happen. The actors approached CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) some months back asking for intervention, but it seems like that hasn’t really been helpful. Now, they have decided to approach the police against the producer for non-payment of dues.
Leading lady of the show Prakruti Mishra says to Times of India, “All of us have been trying to contact Raakesh Paswan and those associated with him in the production house, but we haven’t got any response. The last message that I got from them was in December. My brother requested them to release the due payment in parts, as I had some medical issues and I needed money for it. I even bought a house after I bagged the show. They owe me around `7 lakh and it’s not a small amount.”
After being launched in May 2018, Bitti Business Wali went off air in four months due to poor ratings. Prakruti states, “We shot for the show for seven months and got paid just for one month, and that too, not the full amount. Artistes and several technicians have been waiting for their payment. We received a mail from the production house in February assuring us that the dues will be cleared by April, which didn’t happen. The producer and his team have stopped answering our calls and text messages. We approached CINTAA a couple of months ago, but the production house hasn’t responded to them either. We will approach the police if they don’t clear our dues immediately.”
Sushant Singh, general secretary, CINTAA, confirms, “Around six-seven people have filed their complaints and the dues have run into lakhs. At the moment, we are in the process of tendering them a legal notice. We will gather the actors and stage a protest outside their office, if need be.”
On the other side, here’s what producer Raakesh Paswan has to say, “I have been a part of this industry for several years. I started my career as a writer and later turned producer. I have never been accused of anything like this. I am in touch with the cast, and plan to release their payments as soon as possible. The show ended in just four months, due to which I suffered heavy losses. I am facing financial problems, as I don’t have a show on air. My conscience is clear, and I have promised everyone that their dues will be cleared soon. In fact, on two occasions, after my shows shut down, I had cleared everyone’s dues even though I hadn’t received payments from the channels.
