Amar Upadhyay reveals ‘Kyukii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ was supposed to be his last project as he was not getting his due in the industry
Television actor Amar Upadhyay rose to fame and became a popular household name by playing Mihir Virani in Ekta Kapoor’s show ‘Kyukii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.’ If this show had not given him the success he had hoped for, Amar would have left the entertainment industry. Yes, you read that right! Amar made this shocking revelation in a recent interview. The actor revealed he was not getting his due in the industry in terms of fame before Mihir happened to him.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Upadhyay recalled he did not want to stay around since he was not getting the fame and success he wanted. Kyunki Saas was supposed to be his last project. The Molkki actor was quoted as saying, “I was not getting my due in the industry in terms of fame before Mihir happened. I did not want to stay around for very long. I felt there was no point in being an actor if I didn’t experience the highest of highs. No one used to recognise me while I was walking on the street. Kyunki Saas... was supposed to be my last project. I thought to myself, ‘Agar yeh show kuch nahi karta mere liye, toh I will switch my profession and do something else’. He also revealed he gave his everything to Mihir Virani’s character to make it immensely popular. Amar went on to reveal he used to shoot 17-18 hours a day without a break and that as an actor he did all kinds of research and learned from people around him. Today, when he looks back, he can proudly say that Mihir became what he is today because of his hard work and dedication.
Meanwhile, Amar Upadhyay is now making his debut as a producer with his first production venture ‘Kyuki Tum Hi Ho’ where he also plays the lead role. The show will premiere on Shemaroo Umang soon.
