Cyber Crime has been burgeoning and the cases of financial fraud have also increased over recent years. And while recovering from the financial loss seems to be nearly impossible, TV actress Aman Sandhu has successfully recovered the Rs 2.05 lakh after it was siphoned off by a fraudster.
The latest development comes after Aman was reported to be the latest victim of cybercrime and she was reported to have lost Rs 2.5 lakhs after clicking a suspicious link. According to the reports, she came across the link on WhatsApp, and shortly after she clicked on it, she was instantly subjected to financial fraud.
According to Aman Sandhu, she was looking for the website of Criticare Hospital in Juhu to book an appointment with an orthopaedic for her mother. This was at 11:30 pm on July 5. Soon after, a link was sent to her WhatsApp number. She clicked on it as she thought it was for the appointment, reported India Today.
The actress had reportedly linked her bank account with the WhatsApp payment facility, and the scam link stole her personal and banking details.
The actor immediately rushed to the bank to inform the police officials about the cyber scam and later proceeded to file a complaint with the Oshiwara Police. sub-inspector Diganbar Kurkute from the cyber cell took charge of the case by coordinating with the National Payment Corporation to trace the UPI details of the fraudsters.
Later, the team froze the receiver's account, to which Sandhu had lost the money, and then reversed the amount to her account.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared an image with the Police team and wrote, "I m really happy today and I would like to thank oshiwara police who made this happen...A big thanku."
