‘Not Everything She Says Is About Us’: Aamir Ali Opens Up On Ex-Wife Sanjeeda Shaikh’s ‘Demotivating Partners’ Comment

Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aamir Ali were once considered the IT couple of the Hindi television industry. After spending a few blissful years together, they went their separate ways with the actress getting custody of their daughter Ayra Ali. They maintained silence about their relationship in front of the media. However, a few days ago the Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar fame opened up about prioritising herself over ‘demotivating partners that often controlled the life of their better halves.’ Fingers were pointed at the ex-husband as netizens started discussing their separation yet again.
Now, the F.I.R. actor has reacted to the statement. While talking about Sanjeeda’s comment he expressed how he doesn’t like washing his dirty linen in public. He firmly stated that not every statement they pass is related to the other. Having been separated for around 5 years, he explained how she must have gone through a tough relationship during that period. Calling their relationship an ‘old story,’ the 42-year-old actor explained that he would never put down anyone. Quoted by the Hindustan Times, Ali said, “Not everything that she and I say about one another is about us. We have not been together for nearly five years now. She must have gone through something like that in that period, I guess. Ours is an old story now which is over. I know what I went through in that separation period and what happened to me. But washing dirty linen in public is not my class. For those who don’t know, the ex-couple fell in love on the sets of Kya Dil Mein Hai. They tied the knot in 2012, after dating for a few years. They welcomed their daughter Ayra in 2018, via surrogacy. Aamir and Sanjeeda separated in 2020 and were officially divorced by 2021.
On the work front, Sanjeeda Shaikh was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The makers of the show recently announced that Heeramandi has been renewed for another season. According to the filmmaker, the second season will follow the tawaifs journey in the Mumbai or Kolkata film industry after they leave Lahore, post-indepence.
