Allu Arjun, despite hailing from an illustrious lineage as the grandson of Allu Ramalingaiah and nephew of Chiranjeevi, faced significant challenges early in his career. His debut in the 2003 film "Gangotri," directed by K Raghavendra Rao, didn't catapult him into instant success. Speaking candidly at an event commemorating 20 years since Sukumar's "Arya" release, Allu revealed the struggles he encountered in obtaining quality scripts due to his appearance. Reflecting on his journey, Allu admitted, "Gangotri was a hit but I didn't look great, so good films didn't come my way." Despite the commercial success of his debut, Allu felt he failed to leave a lasting impression as an artist. He recounted wandering the streets of Hyderabad, watching new releases and rejecting scripts that failed to resonate with him.

However, fate intervened when Allu attended a screening of Nithiin's "Dil" with his friend Tarun, where Sukumar approached him with the script for Arya. Despite Sukumar being a debut director, Allu was intrigued by the narrative and seized the opportunity to showcase his talent. "Arya" proved to be a transformative project, propelling Allu's career to new heights and earning him critical acclaim.
