Pragya Jaiswal Shares The Story Of How She Stumbled Into Telugu Cinema-EXCLUSIVE
Pragya Jaiswal is a well-known name in the Telugu film industry today. It has been seven years for her there working since she debuted in a bilingual film, which was released as Virattu in Tamil and as Dega in Telugu. Coming from a Hindi-speaking household and having done her college in Pune, one wonders how Pragya entered in the South films, and the actress explains how.

Pragya shares that it was kind of a move by fate that she got her first film down South. “I had auditioned for a Hindi film actually. It was a Hindi film which was being directed by a South Indian director, but somehow things didn’t work out. I was almost finalised but at the last moment the makers decided that they didn’t want to go with a fresh face and wanted an established actor for the film,” she reveals. Pragya goes on to add that she was really hopeful about the film but it didn’t happen. “However, the director remembered me and later he offered me a Telugu film that he was doing next. I said yes to it and my audition, look test and everything in the process, that was done for the Hindi film, ended up being for the Telugu film,” she laughs. The actress goes on to insist that once she got success in the South, there was no turning back. “Once I got launched down South, the film worked and I got recognised, I started getting offers from there. It wasn’t a calculative move but when I started getting good offers, I thought that it was best to use such a big platform that I was getting. I didn’t come from a film family so I thought that it’s best to make the most of the opportunity and when the time will be right, I will get opportunities in Hindi films as well,” she concludes.
