Actor Vishal recently shared a video on social media where he made shocking claims of giving money to the Censor Board to get his film Mark Antony certified. He shared a video on Twitter expressing his concerns about the CBFC and stated that he had no choice but to pay in order to get clearance. He referred to it as a 'scam' and made his appeal to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and PM Narendra Modi. The actor further went on to clarify that he was informed that out of the Rs 6.5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh was for the people who would review the film, and the remaining Rs 3 lakh was for him to obtain the certification. He felt compelled to make the payment, eventually receiving the certificate, and his film Mark Antony was released in North India. When asked about the issue, actor-turned-producer Jackky Bhagnani mentioned that he hasn't encountered such a situation with the CBFC yet. However, he also stated that he is not familiar with the matter and prefers not to comment on it. Well, Vishal's viral video brings CBFC under the radar and will be interesting to see whether an official investigation is initiated.
Earlier, Madras high court sent restraint orders over Vishal's 15 crore debt to Lyca Productions. SJ Suryah and Vishal's Mark Antony hit theatres on September 15. Its Hindi version was eventually released on the same date in North India as well. What are your thoughts on the controversy?
