The actor recently garnered attention in the headlines when he declined to romance with actor Krithi Shetty. He disclosed that he had been offered a romantic film alongside Krithi Shetty but declined the opportunity to be part of a project where he was offered to play the romantic lead opposite her. This decision stemmed from his personal belief that he couldn't comfortably portray a romantic character opposite someone he was concurrently portraying a fatherly role with in another film. He went on to express his deep affection for Krithi, likening her to a daughter figure in his life. Vijay Sethupathi played an antagonist in Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee's Jawan. The film raked Rs 1000 crore worldwide. The south star has Katrina Kaif starrer Merry Christmas in the pipeline. Sriram Raghavan-directed Merry Christmas is all set to hit the theatres on December 15, 2023.
Earlier, the filmmaker had revealed that the film is actually based on a novel, but he refrained from sharing its name. He mentioned that it will be a pleasant surprise for viewers to discover the book's name in the credits.
