Tamil Film Soorarai Pottru Starring Suriya Enters Oscars Race In Three Categories
Music composer GV Prakash Kumar is elated to announce his Tamil film, Soorarai Pottru entering the Oscars race in 3 categories
Tamil film Soorarai Pottru helmed by Sudha Kongara featuring Suriya and Aparna Balamurali in the lead pair has made India proud. As the movie has made its place in the Oscars race, in three categories. This news was broken to the cinema goers by the music composer GV Prakash Kumar on his Twitter. On the occasion of Republic day, Soorarai Pottru produced by the lead actor Suriya himself has entered in the prestigious race, in the categories, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Original Score.
His tweet read, “Am super happy to announce that #SooraraiPottru enters the #oscars race ... including best original score category ... god bless ... @2D_ENTPVTLTD @Suriya_offl @rajsekarpandian #sudhakongara (sic)” The movie was produced under actor Suriya's production banner 2D Entertainment. Following the music composer, GV Prakash Kumar, was co-producer Rajasekara Pandian penning down a tweet. Following his wish for Republic day, he also shared the categories, the film has entered in the Oscars race. He also shared of film being available to watch at awards’ screening room.

Released on November 12, 2020 on the OTT platform, it was loosely based on Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath's life and major incidents those took place in his life. The movie was released on the OTT platform due to the outbreak of COVID-19 that resulted into theatres remaining closed for almost 8-9 months.
