Rajinikanth Issues Public Notice Against The Illegal Use Of His Image, Name And Voice; Lawyers Says, ‘Damage To His Reputation Entails A Great Loss’- REPORTS
Over the years, pan-Indian superstar Rajinikanth has amassed a huge fan base owing to his versatile acting and larger-than-life personality. While many aspire to be like him, there have been instances where his name is used to conduct businesses he has no relations with. On Saturday, the actor and his advocate S. Elambharathi issued a public notice where they warned individuals against using his identity for illegal businesses.

As reported by Zee News, the notice states that civil and criminal proceedings will take place against people who infringe upon the superstar’s personality, including his voice, image, name, and other unique behaviour of his. It is also being reported that he has full control over the commercial utilisation over his identity. The notice further states that different mediums, platforms, product manufacturers are misappropriately using his name, caricature image, image, artistic image, AI generated images and voice to create confusion among the masses, which leads his fans into buying certain products. Quoted by the media publication, the notice states, “His charisma and nature as an actor and human being has earned him the title of `Superstar` called by millions and millions of his fans across the world. The sheer proportion of his fan base and his respect across the film industry is unmatched and indisputable. Any damage to his reputation or personal life would entail a great loss to our client.” 

This is not the first time a veteran actor has taken such a step. A few months ago in November, Amitabh Bachchan had moved to the Delhi High Court and seeked security of his personality rights. The HC had passed an interim order restraining people from using Big B’s name, image, voice, and personality attributes for their own gain and publicity of their products. On the work front, Rajinikanth’s next Jailer is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and is expected to release next year during the Tamil New Year in April. Produced by Sun Pictures, the movie is said to be an action-drama. He will be seen working with Ramya Krishnan after two decades. Kannada superstar Shivaraj Kumar Will be playing the antagonist and Vasantha Ravi, Vinayakan, and Yogi Babu will be seen playing pivotal roles in the film.
