Master Actor Vijay Sethupathi Says ‘Your Work Speaks For You If You Spend Time With It’; Talks About Working With Senior Actors

Tamil superstar Vijay Sethupathi has managed to carve his niche in the entertainment industry. The actor has won hearts with his performance in the films like Super Deluxe and recently released Master, which features him opposite industry senior, Thalapathy Vijay. In an interview now, Vijay Sethupathi opened up about his work. The actor spoke about working and learning the craft from senior actors in the field. He also revealed that he has learnt a lot from Thalapathy Vijay while working on the film Master.
Speaking with PTI in a Zoom interview, the Master actor said that he had a wonderful opportunity working with a “mass hero” like his co-star Vijay. The 43-year-old actor added, “Whenever I work with senior actors, I go there like a student because I want to learn. I am never like 'I have done so many films and I have so much experience.” Sharing how he acts like a student who wants to learn from his seniors, Sethupathi revealed what he wants to learn from his co-star Vijay. The actor said, “He (Vijay) has been in the industry for more than 25 years. His fan base is massive and I want to learn from him, from his energy. That's why I also worked with Rajini sir and Chiranjeevi sir.”
As stories of a tussle between two big stars surfaced, Sethupathi said that they are just stories and mentioned how an actor cannot work from that kind of space. He then added, “As actors, we perform so many characters and that gives us maturity. If I have an ego, that means I don't have the maturity.” Later, Vijay shared how for him, art is not a business. The actor mentioned that art is a “feeling” for him and said, “For me, the art form is not a business... it depends on the business but it is not a business. It is a feeling. It is the trust between you and your work. Your work will speak for you if you spend time with it and listen to it. If I do my work with responsibility, I'll be here."
Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi’s film Master released in theatres on January 13. The film reportedly earned Rs 220 crore at the box-office. The film is now also set to release on streaming platform Amazon Prime Video on January 29.
