Prathima Devi Passes Away At 88: Kannada Actress Breathes Her Last Due To Health Issues
Prathima Devi, the veteran actress passes away owing to age-related ailments
The veteran actress of the Kannada Cinema Industry Prathima Devi passed away owing to age-related ailments in Bangaluru on Tuesday, 6th April 2021. The actress was 88 years aged.
As per the reports she is survived by three children, including a popular film-maker S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu and Vijayalakshmi Singh.
Prathima Devi’s roots were in Udupi and she joined professional theatres at the age of 11 where she made her debut in films with Krishnaleela in the year 1947. The film was bankrolled by film businessman and freedom fighter D. Shankar Singh under the banner of Mahatma Pictures, later they got tied in a nuptial knot. She was the lead female character in “Jaganmohini” released in 1951 that was the ever first Kannada Movie made by golden jubilee and was a directorial debut of Shankar Singh. She has acted in more than 60 Kannada movies and worked as a lead and later she also appeared in character roles.
Prathima Devi also awarded the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in the year 2001-02 by the Government of Karnataka for entertaining people for more than 6 decades. Her last appearance was in “Rama Shama Bhama’ in 2005.
