Kannada filmmaker and actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been making the headlines for months now for his involvement in the horrific murder of his ardent fan Renuka Swamy. Shocking updates about the investigation have been unfolding leaving netizens heartbroken. Well amidst it all, recently a photo of him hanging out with three others including a rowdy sheeter went viral on social media. He was seen sitting on the lawns of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Karnataka, with a cigarette and a cup of tea, having the time of his life.

Well, after the photo went viral and left everyone enraged, on Tuesday, the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court ordered Darshan’s transfer to Bellary Jail. The VIP treatment row has certainly created a storm online. On Monday, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda responded to the matter and stated that officials who “facilitated” the privileges would be held accountable. The government reportedly suspended seven prison officials after a purported photo of Darshan enjoying his time in jail surfaced on the internet. After instructions from the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not only were the officials suspended, but he also instructed the state Director General of Police (DGP) to “immediately transfer Darshan and others to different jails.” ALSO READ: Darshan Thoogudeepa Faints In Bengaluru Jail Over Health Issues Amid Renuka Swamy Murder Probe - Reports

As reported by India.com, the other accused in the Renuka Swamy murder case Pawan, Raghavendra, and Nandish will reportedly be moved to Mysore Jail. The police officials are also preparing to shift the accused Jagdish to Shivamogga, and Dhanraj to Dharwad Jail. On the other hand, Pavitra Gowda, also an accused in the murder case, will remain in Bangalore Jail. Reportedly, three special teams have been formed to investigate three cases related to special hospitality in jail. 


Talking about the Renuka Swamy murder case, Darshan, Pavitra, and other accused were taken behind bars for murdering Swamy for allegedly sending lewd messages to the actress and blaming her for the actor’s souring relationship with his wife. Apart from Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda, 17 other people have been taken into police custody in connection with the case.
