Over the years, many Bollywood actors have embraced different roles in the entertainment industry apart from acting. While some turned to filmmaking, others gave singing songs a shot. Many even struck a chord with the audience due to their soulful voice and continued singing. On the occasion of World Music Day 2024, let’s take a look at around six celebrities who embraced being a singer and sang a few songs for their films.

Alia Bhatt:
Having made a name for herself in the Hindi entertainment industry with her versatile performances after her debut with Karan Johar directorial Student Of The Year, Alia Bhatt embraced being a singer for her films. Being one of the highest-paid actresses of her generation, her rendition of ‘Samjhawan’ for the film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ is still one of her most cherished songs. She went on to lend her voice to ‘Ikk Kudi’ in Udta Punjab and ‘Sooha Saaha’ for her second film Imtiaz Ali directorial Highway. 

Kunal Kemmu:
He impressed the audience with his witty charm and comic timing, throughout his professional journey. Kunal Kemmu donned the director’s hat with the recently released Madgaon Express, starring Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, and Avinash Tiwary. The actor made the film even more special, by penning the song ‘Hum Yahin’ and singing it. Having struck a chord with the audience, he performed it live during the promotional events of the film.

Parineeti Chopra:
The actress started her career by working with Yash Raj Films and went on to make a mark as an actress with her charming personality. She made her debut with Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma starrer ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’. While she impressed the audience with her versatile performances, she turned a singer with ‘Maana Ki Hum Yaar Nahin’ from her film ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu,’ co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. She went on to embrace a career as a singer, recently, just before the release of her film Chamkila. The Ishaqzaade actress even hosted her own concert.


Shah Rukh Khan:
Bollywood’s superstar, who made a smashing box-office comeback in 2023 with movies like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan might not have completely embraced being a singer as a career, however, he did lend his voice to the hit track ‘Apun Bola’ from the film Josh. He surely did leave his fans swooning with his enchanting voice.

Shraddha Kapoor:
Known for her on-screen bubbly personality, Shraddha Kapoor has, over the years, garnered a huge fan base on social media. As fans await her return to the big screens, they often like to revisit her previous films, one of them being Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh starrer Ek Villian. Her unplugged version of the song ‘Galliyaan’ is adored by the listeners. She went on to sing songs in her other films like the ‘Bezubaan Phir Se’ in ABCD 2, and ‘Sab Tera’ in Bhaagi. 

Salman Khan:
The actor has made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with his versatile performances. Having essayed various roles from a chocolate boy to an action star, Salman Khan lent his voice to the song ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera,’ for the film Hero. While the Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty starrer failed to impress the critics and the audience, the song is still adored by the fans.
