Sonu Nigam Prayed For Kumar Sanu To Not Show Up At RD Burman's Studio During 1942: A Love Story Recording Session; Throwback Thursday
Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam are the best singers we have in Bollywood. The two has made gazillions fall in love with their melodious love notes. Even today, Sanu and Nigam's songs are sheer magic to our ears. But will you believe that there was a time when Sanu took away Sonu's biggest opportunity back in the 90s? Recently, Sonu Nigam recalled the day when he was struggling to make a mark in the industry. 

He revealed that during the recording of 1942: A Love Story songs, Kumar, who was finalised as the prime playback singer for this song was being awaited in the studio. However, this did not go down well with the director Vidhu Vinod Chopra who was left enraged as Sanu didn't show up on time. However,  it was Pancham Da who came to the rescue who told Sonu that if Kumar fails to reach in the next few minutes, he would give him a chance to sing. However, Kumar did show up and well, as they say, the rest is history. Years later, Sonu also revealed that he was praying for Kumar to not turn up but unfortunately, he did. 


The soundtrack of 1942: A Love Story starring Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala went on to become one of the biggest hit songs in that era. Kumar Sanu has also recorded, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To, Kuchh Na Kaho, Rim Jhim Rim Jhim and Rooth Na Jaana that became chartbusters. After decades, these songs are still played on Radio and are also be revamped and one of them is Sonam Kapoor's Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
