Sonu Nigam Blamed The Rajasthan Bureaucracy For Not Being Nominated For Best Playback Singer At The IIFA Awards 2025

Renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam recently voiced his displeasure over an incident during his performance at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in Jaipur. The event, held at Hotel Rambagh Palace, saw the attendance of numerous dignitaries, including Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Midway through Nigam's performance, the Chief Minister and several delegates reportedly left the venue, prompting the singer to address the matter publicly.
In a video message shared on his Instagram account, Nigam expressed his disappointment, stating that such actions reflect a lack of respect for artists and the arts. He emphasized that leaving during a performance is akin to disrespecting Goddess Saraswati, the deity of music and arts. Nigam remarked, "If you have to get up and leave, either you should not come or should leave before the show starts. It is very rude to get up and leave in the middle of any artist's performance
The singer further highlighted that the departure of the Chief Minister led to other delegates exiting as well, creating a ripple effect. He urged politicians and attendees to either commit to staying for the entire performance or to leave before it commences, acknowledging their busy schedules but stressing the importance of showing respect to performing artists. Nigam also mentioned receiving messages from attendees advising him against performing at events where such disruptions occur, underscoring the broader implications of such actions on the morale of artists.
This incident has sparked discussions about the etiquette and respect accorded to artists during live performances, especially when attended by high-profile individuals. Nigam's candid address serves as a reminder of the reverence due to art and those who dedicate their lives to it.
