Singer Akriti Kakar will be performing live at Vaishno Devi on April 8
Bollywood singer Akriti Kakar is beyond excited to perform for the first time ever at Vaishno Devi during Navratri festival. She is all set to enthrall audiences with her bhajans and devotional songs by performing live on April 8. Notably, this is Akriti’s first visit to the holy shrine and she has mixed emotions. The ace singer in a recent interview opened up about performing at Vaishno Devi and revealed she has carefully handpicked the songs she is going to sing at the temple.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Akriti was quoted saying, “For the first time ever in all of my life, I shall be offering my prayers at Vaishno Devi mandir through my bhajans. Since it is my first visit to the place as well, I’ve carefully handpicked the songs I’m going to sing. I’ve never felt more nervous, more honoured and more excited at the same time before! My concert will happen early in the morning at the mandir.” The Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania hit-maker added that she never got the opportunity to visit the holy shrine in all these years. But she is elated that she has now finally got a chance to visit and perform at the shrine. “Now, maa ka bulawa has come. Personally, this will be like turning a new leaf on life and music,” the singer further stated.
Akriti also mentioned that she has never ever done a devotional performance though she had learned a lot of classical bhajans as a child. The nature of her gig at the shrine will be diametrically opposite to the ones she had done before. She also admitted that she loves to perform during the Navratri festival as she can feel and use the divine energy around her.
Akriti Kakar is widely known for her chartbuster songs such as, ‘Saturday Saturday’ from the film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and ‘Iski Uski’ from 2 States among others.
