Music composer Lalit Pandit is a huge RD Burman fan. He is elated that Pancham Da’s creation features in the new ad for Apple iPhone. “Dum maro dum being used in the new Apple ad is a wonderful thing. It shows music is timeless and good music carries on to newer generations!”

Lalit sees this as an honour for everyone. “Not only is it an honour for Pancham Da, but for all of us in the Indian music industry too. Amongst Pancham Da’s many achievements this song has been adopted by the Apple giant in its new ad. This is something for all of us to feel proud of.”

Dwelling on the perennial popularity of Dum Maro Dum, Lalit opines, “First of all, I think the newness of the song in terms of its composition, lyrics, and music arrangement, made it an instant classic. The composition was ahead of its time! It was a modern song with a beautiful energy in its composition and other musical aspects. Also Asha ji sang and delivered the song beautifully.”

Apple launched several new models of its iPhone 13 line up during a livestream of the Apple Event 2021 last week. Bollywood fans quickly pointed out that RD Burman's song ‘Dum Maro Dum’ from Hare Krishna Hare Ram (1971) played during the event as the speakers revealed the latest iPhone 13. The prelude to this song also features on the gadget’s advertisement. The iconic tune has been included at the beginning of the video as a part of the 'Work All Day' song by artist Footsie.
