AR Rahman Collaborates With Irish Band ‘U2’ For The Single ‘Ahimsa’ Based On The Principles Of Mahatma Gandhi
Music composer AR Rahman teams up with the Irish band U2 ahead of their tour to India. The music composer and the band have unveiled a new song titled Ahimsa based on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi
Music composer AR Rahman is known for his talented contribution towards music for years now. Over the years, AR Rahman has won many accolades and awards for his contribution to the music industry and was also awarded the Padma Bhushan award in 2010. As Rahman is one of the best record selling artists in the country, the music composer has now teamed up with the popular Irish band U2 for a new song. AR Rahman and the band have unveiled a new song titled Ahimsa based on the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Irish Band U2 are soon coming to India for their first-ever show in the country. The music band will be visiting the country for their ‘The Joshua Tree Tour' and will be hosting a concert in Mumbai within less than a month. According to an IANS report, in less than a month of their arrival in Mumbai for ‘The Joshua Tree Tour’, the Irish rock band U2 has unveiled a new song with music composer AR Rahman. The song is titled ‘Ahimsa’ and the track is based on the fight against injustice and the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. While speaking about the song, the lead vocalist Bono added that song Ahimsa speaks about non-violence and mentioned how India gave the greatest gift to the world to them and its never been more important. Bono explained that it is more powerful than nuclear energy, the armies, the navies, the British Empire and said how It’s power itself and mentioned how it's never been more important. Bono mentioned how the song is about the fight against injustice as it has always been important to the band. He shared how U2 has been shaped and formed by Martin Luther King who was a student of Mahatma Gandhi. Bono also added that Martin Luther King said that the moral arc of the universe is long but it bends towards justice and mentioned how he doesn’t believe in that anymore. Adding on further to the statement he made, Bono explained how it doesn’t bend towards justice, but it has been bend towards justice and mentioned that one has to be actively involved in democracy to preserve it and show people how we feel and what we care about.
Talking about the song, AR Rahman also said that Ahimsa requires courage and strength and quality that is impervious to weapons or power. He added that the song Ahimsa is a mission that is most needed to heal the modern world and its incredible timing to collaborate with U2 and their amazing legacy to revive their movement.
Irish Band U2 will be hosting its first-ever show in India with their ‘The Joshua Tree Tour’ in Mumbai. U2 who is famous for songs ‘With or Without you’, ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for’, ‘Beautiful Day’ and many others will host their show in Mumbai on December 15, 2019
