Punjabi-Canadian singer AP Dhillon found himself at the receiving end after he shared pictures promoting his new song 'With You', featuring his girlfriend Banita Sandhu. The latest pictures instantly went viral as the musician was seen wearing multicoloured shoes that some users claimed to be resembling the tricolour of the Indian flag. A section of netizens critiqued Dillhon's fashion statement while pointing out the similarities and accused him of disrespecting the national flag.

The pictures shared by Dhillon on Instagram left the fans and his social media users divided. The post garnered mixed reactions just ahead of I-Day.


Shortly after AP Dhillon posted the video on Instagram, for the promotion of his new song, the focus quickly shifted to his shoes. After facing severe backlash, Dhillon decided to delete the post.

While one user probed if Dhillon deliberately insulted the flag by flaunting his shoes just before Independence Day, or it was just the design. Another expressed disgust at his behaviour.

One user wrote, "He is a popular Punjabi singer AP Dhillon. Just before 15 August, he is flaunting his shoes on Instagram. Check the colour of his shoes. Is he deliberately insulting our tricolour? I am not sure but I find this behaviour disgusting!!”

"Disrespectful act. Shame on him," wrote another. One more user wrote, "Tiranga pairo me, such a shame.”



For those unaware, AP Dhillion, who is legally known as Amritpal Singh Dhillon, has had a remarkable journey from Gurdaspur to Canada in a short time. The Punjabi-Canadian singer and rapper is currently on a promotional spree in India for his upcoming docuseries, "AP Dhillon: First Of A Kind". 

On multiple occasions, Dhillon has expressed his gratitude for the love and recognition he has received for his music. Reflecting on his journey from Gurdaspur to Canada, he stated that he never imagined he would one day be sharing his story in this manner.
