Grammy Award-winning singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan leaves the audience mesmerised with his soulful voice and beautiful songs. Despite being decades, fans cherish each and every song he churns out. Well, he recently attended the grand Mahashivratri celebration hosted at Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation on Friday evening where showed his prowess. While clips of his performance instantly went viral, a section of the internet expressed their disappointment over him performing Bollywood songs too.

As reported by the Free Press Journal, the event was attended by thousands of people. Many even joined the live streaming of the event through social media platforms. As soon as the videos of Mahadevan performing his Bollywood songs started surfacing on the internet, enraged devotees started expressing their shock. While many urged Sadhguru to never invite the 57-year-old singer-composer to any events, others lashed out at him.

Mahadevan had taken to Isha Foundation’s official X handle to express his excitement about performing during the Mahashivratri celebration. He had stated that he would be singing songs dedicated to Lord Shiva as well as his popular songs due to the requests of the audience. He was heard saying, “I'm coming here after nearly 17 years. Today is going to be a mixture of songs dedicated to Lord Shiva but the request has come to me from the audience to sing popular songs. So it's also going to be my Bollywood hits... I'll be singing Zinda from Bhaag Milkha, Rock On, Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe, Mast Magan, Mitwa, Breathless and of course a lot of Shiva songs.”


Shankar Mahadevan had made the headlines last month after his and Zakir Hussain’s fusion band Shakti had won the Grammy Award 2024 for Best Global Music Album, ‘This Moment.’
