Seema Deo Passes Away At The Age Of 81: Veteran Actress Was Suffering From Alzheimer’s!

Veteran Marathi and Hindi film actress Seema Deo has left for her heavenly abode at the age of 81. She breathed her last on Thursday morning at her home in Bandra, Mumbai, due to age-related ailments. Her filmmaker son Abhinay Deo, known for movies like Blackmail and Delhi Belly, confirmed the news of his mother’s passing and stated that she had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for over three years.
In a statement to the news agency PTI, he shared that she passed away at “8.30-9 am at her residence,” due to old age. He explained that she had been completely withdrawn, days before her passing, and chalked it up to old age. Talking about her diagnoses, he revealed that she had dementia which led up to Alzheimer's. He went on to state that there is not specific reason for her death.
The filmmaker also shed light on her diagnoses and explained the effect Alzheimer's and dementia has on a person. Quoted by NDTV, he said, “Due to Alzheimer's and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory starts coming down and one by one, the organs start shutting down.”
According to the media publication, Deo’s last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park at 5 pm today.
For the unversed, she was married to veteran actor Ramesh Deo who passed away in 2022 at the age of 93. She has two sons filmmaker Abhinay Deo and actor Ajinkya Deo. Having worked in over 80 projects, she made a mark in the entertainment industry with her versatile performances. She made her debut in 1960 with the film ‘Miya Bibi Razi. She is known for her work in many different projects like Anand, Saraswatichandra and many more.
