Ashi Hi Banva Banvi Celebrating 31 Years Of Entertainment: 5 Reasons Why This Film Became Historic
'Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi' the best Marathi cromedy film to date has completed iconic 31 years on September 23. Directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar, the film starred Laxmikant Berde, Ashok Saraf, Siddharth Ray, Nivedita Saraf, Ashvini Bhave, Priya Arun, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Sachin Pilgaonkar himself.

The best entertainer of its times, this film set a different standard altogether that no Hindi or Marathi comedy film can match to date. This film had it all, action, romance, drama, scam, honesty and men dressed as women. Sachin Pilgaonkar looked like a gracious woman no less than the legend Balgandharva while Laxmikant Berde’s pregnant Parvati is to date an object of memes!

The industry celebrates 31 years of iconic comedy while Ashvini Bhave posted a throwback video clip of herself from the film on her Instagram handle.

'Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi' is actually a remake of the 1966 Hindi film 'Biwi Aur Makan' directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

The film's plot revolves around four friends who are deep in debt yet desperate for rented accommodation. When the landlady insists on allowing only married couples to stay, two of them dress as women and pretend to be wives of the other two.
