From Tajmahal to broccoli samosa to Sikandari raan - POTUS Donald Trump's experience took a 180 degree turn at ITC Maurya restaurant. US President Trump is mostly known for his undying love for food, a Steaks so, a well marinated lamb cooked with traditional Peshwari spices, that suited the taste buds of Trump. 

It is just hillarious to know that the Trump family skipped the famous vegetarian Gujarati meal at the Sabarmati Ashram. Not only did they skipped the 'world famous' broccoli samosa, they didn't even eat the Gujarati delicacy Khaman, which was also a part of the menu. 


Soon after their visit to Ashram, they took off for Agra and headed to Delhi next. The Trump family rested at the ITC Maurya Hotel in Chanakyapuri. So, it was obvious that there were no chances, that they could miss on the hotel's famous Bukhara naan and Sikandari raan. 


From Alexander to Trump, Sikandari Rann is a sure winner. Donald Trump's food preferences have been all over the news as he visited India, also about his classic meat-loaded cheeseburger lover would survive in a country where beef isn't part of the staple diet. Sikandari Rann has surely done its magic on Trump's taste buds.  

We must tell you that the Sikandari Rann is a very popular dish, which is served during Iftar and gets its origin from the times of Alexander the Great.


It was also a part of the special feast that is prepared to celebrate Alexander's victory over Porus. Though the dish got its name Sikandar, from the conqueror himself. 


Sikandari Rann is prepared with the hind leg of a lamb, which is mainly used for keema. But the secret lies in making this dish perfect is 48-hour marination with malt vinegar and papaya paste that softens the meat. It takes eight hours from scratch to prepare the dish. 

Yes, it is that mouth watering dish, even the Trump family couldn't resist over it. And we dont blame them for this, actually in reality Delhi food is hard to resist.
