Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday after suffering from depression for past six months. His suicide came as a shock to celebrities and his fans during the coronavirus pandemic. His death has also once again raised question on mental health and its importance. Many times people don’t understand that whether they are suffering from this mental disorder. Celebrities like Deepika Padukone has been brave enough to come out in public and spoke about her journey of battling depression.




What is depression?

Depression is a mood disorder which involves feeling of sadness and loss of interest. There can be many reasons such as job, relationships, career. Dealing with depression is an age old problem.



What are symptoms?

Many times we just ignore the symptoms of any disease. Depression also shows its early symptoms which should not be ignored. Like any person is showing loss of interest, no sexual desire, changes in eating habits, weight loss or gain, sleeping too much or too little, restlessness, thoughts of death or suicide, or an attempt at suicide. These signs should not be avoided.

After Sushant Singh Rajput death, there were many talks about mental health awareness but there are least steps taken towards it. It is always advisable to keep a check on your family members, their life pattern. The busy schedule of our life often takes a toll on your health, thinking pattern.



If you notice or know anyone suffering from this problem, then talk to them, support them, listen to them. Don’t be judgmental or think that they are not normal. Many times people don’t come out with their problem thinking that others will make fun of them. Help them or keep them busy in order activities so that the person stops thinking about wrong things.
