Bollywood films are high on drama, emotions, romance and even portraying a life which is completely dreamy. While many films are made out of imagination, there are some Bollywood movies which are inspired by real-life instances. In recent times, this trend has become more into Bollywood and many directors are coming up with this kind of films.

Today, we have brought some movies which are a trendsetter and are also inspired by real-life instances.


1. Chak De: Released in 2007, the film is inspired by Ranjan Negi. In 1982 Asian Games he was is unable to stop the penalty shot from Pakistan. It is a sports theme movie that portrayed the condition of women's hockey turning from a bad to a good side. The story also narrates the bitter side of the discrimination faced by the goal-keeper.


2. Bhaag Mikha Bhaag: Based on the true story of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh. He is the renowned Indian athlete that won numerous gold medals in men's athletics. Farhan Akhtar portrayed the role of Milkha Singh. In this movie, the whole life of Milkha Singh was portrayed with great perfection.


3. Mary Kom: The film was inspired by M.C Mary Kom. She is another personality whose journey from a remote village to the different boxing rings around the world, where she was victorious and won different medals. In her honour, a real-life Bollywood movie was filmed starring the damsel Priyanka Chopra and the movie gained appreciation all over.


4. The Dirty Picture: Silk Smitha was also called the dream girl of men in South India. Vidya Balan played the role of a siren that soar the heights of success due to her sensuality but, dies an unfortunate and untimely death. Vidya acting in this movie fetched her more fame and accolades as well.


5. Guru: The film is based on the true story of the renowned business tycoon, Lt. Dhirubhai Ambani. This movie shows the ups and downs faced by a common man that fulfils his ambition to be a name that the world never forgets. Seems true today!


6. Special 26: There were reports about fake CBI which were reported in 1987 in Mumbai and the film is inspired by those reports. One fine day, Tribhuvan Das Bhimji Zaveri Jewelers were raided by a team of CBI officials. Different samples of the gold jewellery and all cash were looted by them.


7. Paan Singh Tomar: Inspired by the real-life of soldier-turned-rebel Paan Singh Tomar. He was an army officer that served in the Indian army where his sprinting talent was recognized. After his retirement, how he entered into the world of dacoits is shown in this movie.


8. Airlift: This incident occurred in 1990 when Kuwait was invaded by Iraqi tyrant, Saddam Hussein. Matthuny Matthews was the main man behind the biggest civilian evacuation ever in the history.
