Yours Sincerely Review, Binge Or Cringe: Kanan Gill's Comeback Is Knowledge Served With Little Dose Of Gags And Laughs
Kanan Gill's back to doing what he does best, stand-up comedy with his new Netflix show, Yours Sincerely. Is it enough to keep you entertained throughout? Let's find out in our review
In times of lockdown, a dose of laughter and entertainment is all that you need and that’s precisely why Netflix has released Kanan Gill’s new stand-up special, Yours Sincerely!
In this special, Kanan Gill revisits his teenage days through a letter that he wrote to himself when he was 15. “I wanted to talk about how it feels looking back on what used to be important to us. I think a lot of us laugh at the dreams we used to have, but are still completely serious about our current dreams. I think that’s very funny,” he says.
The note opens with an autobiographical note that gives the audience an insight about his recent absence and apparent weight gain. He opens the act with a funny monologue on why he has been missing in action for so long and how he has been travelling around the world. He also talks about the embarrassing childhood days and how we all want to forget our lame past. The stand-up special also focuses on the goals that he had set for his future and its back-story.
The show touches on various important topics like insecurities, suicide, bullying, and depression. The way he has addressed these issues in his act is a refreshing watch. This is his second special after Keep It Real, which streamed on Amazon Prime Videos, however, this one is a bit more introspective and delves deeper into important issues.
The topics are simple, yet relatable, leaving one thinking deep. The comedian ends the set on a high with a dialogue between him and his friend.
