Tales From The Loop Review, Binge Or Cringe: Tried And Tested Tales That Are Interesting Enough For Sci-Fi Lovers
Amazon Prime’s Tales from the Loop is for the sci-fi lovers out there as it uses a lot of tried and tested science fiction tropes but does so in unconventional ways
Amazon Prime Video’s new show Tales From The Loop is like nostalgia.
Adapted from the eponymous art book by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, Tales From The Loop is an eight-episode show with each episode narrating a standalone story.
Set in the town of Mercer, Ohio during the early 1980’s, Tales From The Loop uses a lot of tried and tested science fiction tropes but does so in unconventional ways.
Time travel, parallel worlds, body swapping and artificial intelligence are all well-worn paths but the show finds new ground to tread and does so in unconventional ways.
Tales From The Loop has a much more adult sensibility, it does not follow the obvious path and has a lot more in common with Netflix’s show ‘The Stranger Things’.
Tales From The Loop does not always provide happy endings, sometimes it doesn’t provide an ending or answers at all. Events are often left up to your own interpretation and, while sometimes this can be infuriating in a narrative, it fits perfectly with the shows overall tone and ambiguous nature.
If you are a fan science fiction stories then this one is worth a watch. Our verdict is Binge-worthy!
