Emily In Paris Review: Sex And The City Fans, Do Not Miss Lily Collin's Life Drama Set In The Magnificient City Of Love
Darren Star is back with another American comedy-drama, Emily In Paris, starring Lily Collins in the lead role. Here's what I thought of the ten-episodic series
Romance, goof-ups, fashion, beautiful corners of the city of Love- Paris, and high octane drama- A mix of all this and voila- you're watching Emily In Paris. The web series, created by Darren Star of the Sex And The City and Younger fame, stars Lily Collins in the pivotal role.
The story of the series is cliche but very engaging. Lily who plays Emily shifts her base from Chicago to Paris for a job in a marketing firm. She is in charge to market the clients of the firm and make their social media presence stronger. Once she reaches Paris, not being well-versed with French, makes her life extremely tough. Add to it the difference between the American and European culture.
The series focuses on Emily's professional and personal life. I quite liked the drama the makers created in her professional life. Emily is not welcomed at her new workplace because she is an American and the French do not appreciate her way of living and working.
Coming to Emily's personal life, her boyfriend in Chicago ends the relationship with her, a few days after she reaches Paris, as he is not game for a long-distance relationship. Fortunately or unfortunately Emily's neighbour is a hot French chef but he is not single, making things complicated for both of them.
Emily meets a lot of men at work and outside too and the story progresses where we see her struggling to fit in the city and finding a balance. In her journey she wins many hearts as well, and proves her talent. The instances and the problems she has to deal with are interesting and gripping.
Lily Collins does a good job and makes the character relatable and lovable too. The supporting cast is brilliant and each one of them perform to their best.
Look and the feel of the series is top class! It's Paris, so you can't expect anything less than 'parfait' (perfect) in that department. Though I didn't really like the wardrobe given to Lily as much but then again, her character demanded it so.
Overall, Emily In Paris is a for sure chic series. Perfect for a girl's night stay. It's entertaining and none of the episode will bore you. I'd give it 3.5 stars and say it's totally Bingeworthy!
