Nikitin Dheer, who is famous for his negative character of
Thangabali from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express recently played Major
Ajay Singh Jasrotia in Shershaah which was released on 12 August on Amazon
Prime Video. Shershaah is based on the life of late Captain Vikram Batra, the
Kargil war hero, and Dheer has received a lot of praise for his portrayal,
which is a far cry from the villainous roles he has mainly played in the past.
Shershaah marks the actor's first positive character after
many years. Talking about if it was difficult to break the image of that
negative character the Chennai Express actor says, "You know fortunately
or unfortunately our industry typecasts us really fast. All you need is one or
two films and either you are a baddie or you are a hero or hero‘s friend
whatever they may think or a comic. So it’s very important for an actor to be
able to do something very different also or other time to do something
different at least before the audience passes a judgment. So yes for a while
I’ve been looking for something where I can break the so-called stereotyping
that I’ve been getting into."
Speaking about the response from the audience for his first positive role, Nikitin says, "Yes this film is very special for me in that
regard because I’m really looking forward to see how people respond to this
character and me attempting such a role and if it does well I hope that I get
to play more positive character in future to come."
Next up for actor Nikitin Dheer is Rohit Shetty's
directorial Sooryavanshi, in which he will star alongside Akshay Kumar. Another
project that the actor has bagged is Antim: The Final Truth, in which he will
star alongside Salman Khan. While Sooryavanshi was supposed to be released last
year, however owing to the pandemic, the release was postponed. On the other
hand, Antim, also starring Aayush Sharma completed its filming.
