Sharad Kelkar Reveals Working On One Of India’s First Authentic Science Fiction Film; Deets Inside- EXCLUSIVE
Sharad Kelkar is one of those few TV actors who made a successful switch to films. After being the voice of Baahubali in Hindi for both the films in the Baahubali franchise, and giving an amazing performance in Sanja Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Sharad finally got his well-deserved recognition last year.

The actor started 2020 with an impactful performance as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero, and finished the year with his transgender portrayal of the eponymous Laxmii in Akshay Kumar’s film of the same name. Even though the latter film failed to leave a mark, Sharad’s portrayal was lauded unanimously.

This year, Sharad had an immense success recently with The Family Man 2, and now has Bhuj: The Pride Of India with Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha and his first film in a leading role, Déjà Vu, ready and up for release. He is also making his Tamil film debut opposite Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh in Ayalaan, which is a science-fiction film.

But as it turns out, Sharad is working on a sci-fi film of his own as well. In an exclusive conversation with Spotboye.com, the actor reveals his plans. “I am working on a science fiction film, which will be one of India’s first. It’s a very tricky film and there is a lot of detailing that needs to be done, so I am still sitting with the writers and director. I don’t want any loophole to remain in it. It has to be logically correct,” he shares.

The actor goes on to share some more details. “We’ll start the pre-production once the screenplay is ready. This film has to be shot abroad, so if everything goes right, I see it going on floors in September-October. We need a specific location for this film and the countries that have opened don’t suit it, while those who do, aren’t opened yet,” he informs.

Sharad doesn’t reveal the subject of the film yet but he gives an idea about it. “It’s a different phenomenon that no one has attempted yet. Being a science student, I understand that, and the makers are also engineers. I can guarantee that it won’t be a typical funny Bollywood time travel or science fiction film. It will be an international standard science fiction film with a lot of VFX,” he promises.
