Rudra is a crime thriller and is based on the British series Luther. The series shows Ajay Devgn in the role of a cop. It will be jointly produced by BBC India and Applause Entertainment and will stream on Disney + Hotstar.

A month back actor Ajay Devgn announced his big digital debut with Disney + Hotstar's Rudra-The Sting of Darkness which is an official adaptation of the blockbuster British collection Luther. The first look poster of Ajay's Rudra featured him in an intense and gritty avatar. While there have been many speculations about the lead lady in the series SpotboyE sources have exclusively learned that South actress Raashii Khanna has been finalized to play the leading lady in this psychological thriller. Raashii who has done varied roles down south will step into Ruth Wilson's shoes for the series. The original series featured Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson in the lead role.

A source close to the development says, "Raashii is the perfect choice for the role. The makers feel that she will easily be able to portray the role of a brilliant psychopath and murderer." While the news of Raashii being finalized for the role is delightful enough. Rudra will also mark her Hindi digital debut.

Famous for her roles in Villain, Venky Mama, Prati Roju Pandage, Raashii made her Bollywood debut with the 2013 Hindi political spy thriller film Madras Cafe directed by Shoojit Sircar, where she played the role of Ruby Singh, the wife of an Indian intelligence officer portrayed by John Abraham.


The series will have Ajay Devgn play a cop who is set out to find the serial killer Raashii Khanna. An engaging and dark new take on cop stories, combined with a unique storytelling format and powerful characters will make Rudra – The Edge of Darkness a must-watch for fans of thrillers and crime dramas. The show is mounted on a large scale and will be shot across iconic locales of Mumbai, the release date is yet to be out.
