Not Arjun Kapoor, This Actor Was The First Choice For Sardar Ka Grandson - EXCLUSIVE
Sardar Ka Grandson starring Neena Gupta, Arjun Kapoor, Rakul Preet, John Abraham, and Aditi Rao Hydari is a story of a grandson going to great lengths to fulfill his grandmother's last wish. The film is slated to release on May 18 on Netflix.
Arjun Kapoor, who showed his comical side with Mubarakan yet again, brings a quirky coming-of-age cross-border romance film Sardar Ka Grandson starring Neena Gupta and Rakul Preet. The story is about a grandson who goes to great lengths to fulfill his grandmother’s last wish. The film celebrates unconditional love between grandparents and grandchildren. Sharing the trailer on Instagram, the 35- year-old actor wrote: "Sardar ka grandson isn’t just about bringing back a house; it’s about bringing back a home."
But did you know Arjun wasn't the first choice for the film? Yes, you read it right. It was How Is The Gosh actor Vicky Kaushal who was first approached to play the role of Amreek Singh in the film.
As per our source, "The makers had first approached Vicky for the role. The actor had loved the script and felt it relatable." However, he couldn’t be a part of it as he couldn’t adjust his shooting dates. "As Vicky had already kept his dates aside for Karan Johar's Takht, he was unable to allocate dates for Sardar Ka Grandson," says the source.
The makers had also approached a couple of other actors for the role, but eventually, the film went to Arjun Kapoor. Well, no doubt it would have been a treat to watch Vicky Kaushal in the film, having said that Arjun is all set to bring his own quirkiness in this character. Sardar Ka Grandson is directed by debutante director Kaashvie Nair and also features John as Gursher Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari who plays the younger version of Neena's character Rupinder Kaur.
Meanwhile, Arjun is busy shooting for his next film Ek Villain Returns along with Tara Sutaria. The film is directed by Mohit Suri and also stars John Abraham.
