Mirzapur: Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, Ali Fazal And Vikrant Massey Starrer Lands In Legal Soup; FIR Filed For Depicting Mirzapur In Bad Light

Months after the 2nd season of much-loved OTT show Mirzapur dropped its 2nd season, it has once again landed in legal trouble. An FIR has been filed against the web show Mirzapur and its OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The FIR was lodged at Mirzapur Kotwali (Dehat) police station for allegedly hurting religious and social sentiments and showing Mirzapur in bad light. The place is known for having the shrine of Goddess Vindhyavasini.
According to a report in Time Of India, the FIR was lodged on Sunday evening. As per the FIR the producers of Mirzapur- Ritesh Sadhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Bhaumik Gondaliya and OTT platform company Amazon Prime Video have been booked under Sections 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 505 (with intent to incite, or which is likely to incite, any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community), 34 (criminal acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and 67A (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) of the IT Act, reports OTI
Times Of India quotes Mirzapur SP Ajay Kumar Singh saying, “On the complaint of one Arvind Chaturvedi of Chilbiliya village, a case has been lodged against the producers of the web-series Mirzapur and the OTT platform company Amazon Prime Video under appropriate sections of IPC and IT Act.”
Meanwhile, the 2nd season of Mirzapur was dropped on Amazon Prime videos in October, last year. The web show stars Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Divyenndu as Munna, Ali Fazal as Guddu, Vikrant Massey as Bablu, Shriya Pilgaonkar as Sweety and Raskia Dugal as Beena Tripathi.
