Gulabo Sitabo Digital Release: Amitabh Bachchan Says ‘I Am No One To Question Their Decision’
Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Gulaabo Sitabo is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime in a few days. Now, Big B has reacted to the digital release of the film, and also called it a privilege on teaming up with Ayushmann
The decision by the makers of Gulabo Sitabo to release the movie on Amazon Prime, and skipping a theatrical release drew a lot of extreme reactions from various sectors. It also included some strong criticism from the theatre owners who felt that the makers had betrayed them by directly releasing the movie on the OTT platform, and expressed their disappointment. Now Amitabh Bachhan, the megastar of the movie weighs in his opinion on the matter, and also opened up about teaming up with Ayushmann Khurrana.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, the actor says that he’s no one to question the decision. He also talks about how he has sleepless nights before a shoot even to this day, and also about his excitement going through the roof when he hits a certain number of followers on social media, something that can be associated as a millennial thing. “I have sleepless nights before the shoot of my films (till date). I battle each hour to increase my views on Instagram. The youngsters get 30 lakh to 40 lakh views as soon as they come on board. I go 'whoopee' in excitement when I hit a lakh. But I am no one to question their decisions,” said Amitabh Bachchan.
He also handles the OTT-theatre divide with a lot of humour during the interview. When asked about it, he says, “I don't understand what OTT stands for. For me, it has always been O-T-Teri. Sorry, that was a bad one.”
Amitabh Bachchan mentioned that it was a privilege to team up with Ayushmann Khurrana. “He is a distinguished talent, and I am a fan of his work,” he said. Gulabo Sitabo is all set for a global release on June 12, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
