Emmys 2019: Top 5 Nominated Shows You Can Watch On Hotstar
The Emmys are just a few weeks away and as we count down to the big night, here is a list of Emmy nominated shows available on Hotstar that you should add to your must-watch list
If you’ve been seeing Hotstar’s marketing over the last few weeks, you must have seen them calling themselves the home to the most Emmy nominated shows. This is definitely true with HBO’s Game of Thrones bagging 32 nominations alone and setting a new record. While almost everyone might have already seen that one, here are some other gems you must catch immediately.
1. Chernobyl
We’ve all read about the Chernobyl gas tragedy of 1986 in our history books, but we see it come to life in this outstanding mini series. It certainly seems that the best cast and crew have come together to make this gem which is almost flawless. Hard-hitting, provocative and thoroughly entertaining, Chernobyl is one of the best HBO shows of all time.
2. Sharp Objects
A journalist returns to her home town, Wind Gap to investigate the mysterious deaths of children happening in the area. An otherwise sleepy town is completely shaken to the core by these deaths. Dealing with a dysfunctional family that has a lot to hide and demons of her own, she does manage to get to the bottom of it. A thriller par excellence starring Amy Adams.
3. This Is Us
Dramas like This Is Us are hard to come by. Telling the story of one family, the Pearsons, the show shifts between timelines and gives us beautiful characters that make it really easy to fall in love with them. Heart-warming and devastating at the same time, this one is a beautifully written show that you will definitely want to keep watching. Just keep those tissues handy!
4. True Detective
True Detective is a fantastic crime show. After a stellar first season starring Matthew McConaughey and an okay-ish second season, True Detective is back and how with a stunning third season. Starring Mahershala Ali as the detective with his own vices, everything about this show is spectacular.
5. Killing Eve
Unlike every cop and killer chase you’ve ever seen, Killing Eve is path-breaking in a lot of ways. Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer in lead roles, it is the story of Eve, an intelligence officer and Villanelle, a psychopathic killer who are very weirdly obsessed with each other. Before you know it, you are lost in their world.
