Coronavirus pandemic has brought lives to a standstill, and several major events, award shows, sporting events have been either canceled or postponed for the time being. One of the world’s biggest film festivals, the Cannes Film Festival has also been canceled in the wake of the current situation with Coronavirus. The 73rd iteration of the film festival was scheduled to being from May 12, and in usual circumstances, by now, we would have been waiting for recommendations as to which film to watch.
While the physical edition of the festival has been canceled, Variety confirmed that the Cannes Film Festival will be releasing a list of movies in early June and collaborate with several festivals, including Venice, to present some films. The plot shows a popular suburb of Dakar where the workers are building a futuristic tower but aren’t paid for months. They decide to leave the country by the ocean for a better future.
